Feature request - use it in content 9 Months ago
Hi all

one question. i am looking for a long time to find such a component as yours which is delivering all things i need.

BUT one thing is missing which i need. is it possible to write a plugin or something else so i can use this like following:

Start address is set in admin area and target address is set in each content different.

i want to use this for my firefighter website...
example: fire on house in streetxyz

then in this content there should be loaded google maps as iframe (as example) which shows all visitors the route form our fire department to mission object.

this informatin should include a map (incl route to this target) and rightside a smal route description with count of kilometers ....

would this be possible?
thank you and best regards
thomas

Hi Thomas, thanks for your question and welcome to the forum.

You can possibly achieve what you have described by normal Joomla means and our Directions (or another) type Google module/plugin extension if I understand what you mean, it renders the distance too or switch it off if you don't need that facility.

Start address is set in admin area and target address is set in each content different.

You could install a module type of a Google map extension and re-create it each time you need it for each new content item (Article) by going to 'Extensions > Module Manager > New' and picking the relevant module to create a new one. You can then embed the new module (yes, you can have multiple modules of the same type) into your article/s and then change the administrator parameters as you say.

You can embed a module into content items (Articles) by following this part of our forum.

Stay away from iframes if you can, they can bring security risks!

Hope this helps,

Kind Regards,

Hi Thomas,

I have re-read your request for development of a multi-waypoint Google Map Module that supports what you describe.

I will be looking into the Google Map API V3 documentation somewhat deeper to try to achieve this as a close friend has stated the same desire for it.

No time frame at this point, but hopefully this will be accomplished by the end of February, 2010.
